MC Club Specific Rules
Midlands Carriagedriving runs its events in accordance with the British Carriagedriving Rule Book. However to make it easier for newcomers to the sport or to reduce costs we make some changes.
We allow pneumatic tyre vehicles and two wheelers for singles and tandems and permit extensions to achieve the required width for cones. Lamps are not compulsory in competitions A and C.
At a MC event to deviate at any point on the marathon from the designated track to shorten the course risks elimination even if no compulsory flags are missed.
The Club allows the imposition of a 20 point penalty for the infringement of rules for which the BC does not specify a penalty, such as those relating to the use of motor vehicles or keeping dogs on leads. The penalty will be applied for a second infringement after due warning.
Withdrawals made after the closing date for entries will be non refundable, subject to the organisers' discretion. Entries received after the closing date may be liable to an extra fee.
BODY / BACK PROTECTOR RULE
Please note – From this season the rule requiring athletes and grooms to wear a suitable back/body protector on the marathon will be enforced at all Midlands Carriagedriving events. Juniors (18 years and under)
must wear this protection
at all times whilst on a carriage.
For more information see British Carriagedriving website rule 928.2.2 and associated guideline
The full rule book can be found on the BC website under the 'reference' section.
